About Andreas von Knobloch

Andreas von Knobloch has been dancing since 2005, exploring various styles such as Salsa, Flamenco, Argentine Tango, and Lindy Hop. However, his greatest passion lies in Blues Dance, which he has been dancing intensively since 2009 and teaching in Nuremberg and the surrounding areas since 2014.

Shaped by numerous workshops and training sessions with international instructors, Andreas brings a broad perspective to the dance. His teaching style is characterized by a relaxed atmosphere, clear instruction, and plenty of space for individual expression.

For Andreas, the joy of dancing, the connection with one’s partner, and the interplay with the music are at the heart of Blues Dance. He especially loves it because, within a clear framework, it allows for an extraordinary level of freedom and creativity.

Blues – More Than Just a Dance

Blues is more than just a dance – it is expression, emotion, and connection. It can cry out in sorrow or celebrate with joy, entice and seduce, but also liberate and make you forget the worries of everyday life. Blues Dance is personal and intimate, stylish and expressive. Its movements are deeply rooted in African traditions, offering a unique blend of improvisation and musical interpretation.

Particularly suited to slow, soulful music – especially Blues and Jazz – Blues Dance creates a unique form of communication between the dancers and the music. It thrives on creativity, individuality, and a shared flow between partners.

The History of Blues Dance

The roots of the Blues run deep in African American culture. Emerging in the southern United States, Blues music blends elements of African rhythms with religious ballads and folklore. Alongside Jazz, it represents the fusion of African and European musical traditions.

Blues Dance evolved alongside the music – first in rural juke joints, later in urban dance halls. It combines African movement principles with European partner dance elements and has developed in different ways across various regions over the decades.

What makes it special? Improvisation, individuality, and the deep connection between the dancers and the music. No two Blues dances are ever the same – every movement tells its own story.
