Slow Bal & Blues
TARDY TUESDAY

That Tardy Tuesday – our format for the slow dances at the 1st Boogie Woogie Club Nürnberg e.V.
Blues and Slow Bal alternate weekly, while Tempo Tuesday takes a break.

BLUES all Levels

Tuesdays
19.30–20.40 h Traveling Blues
20.50–22.00 h Blues Aesthetics

Blues is an incredibly diverse dance that has developed differently in different places over the course of time. Unfortunately, we can’t teach everything at once in our course.

Whether you have never danced blues before or already have some experience: just join us!

So we have decided to give you an insight into how to move through the room together in the blues in the first course. We will emphasise a good connection with each other. Of course, we will also give you great ideas for changes of direction, step variations, etc.

In the second course we will concentrate on the question “What actually makes our dance blues dance?” Even though blues has developed in different ways, there are certain elements that keep reappearing. Blues is often perceived as a very free dance, as there is no fixed basic step. This can make it very difficult to get into blues dancing at first. That’s why in this course we’ll give you a few concepts to play with on the social dance floor. We will talk about groove, rhythm, posture and much more.

SLOW BAL Beginners

Tuesdays
19.30–20.45 h Training
20.45–22 h free training / social dancing to Blues and Slow Bal music

If you love slow swing music and want to dance to it, or if you already dance Balboa and would like to dance it to slower songs, then Slow Balboa is the dance for you.

Slow Balboa is an elegant, smooth swing dance that is typically danced to slow swing music. The ‘slow’ version of Balboa emphasises the connection between the dancers as well as the controlled, flowing movements.

In this course we will teach you Slow Balboa from scratch. You do not need any previous knowledge. Having already taken Balboa classes will definitely help you to master the dance, but is not a necessity.

In the practice session afterwards we play blues and slow swing. You are also welcome to ask questions and practise what you have learnt.
