ABOUT ROLAND & BIANCA

Roland and Bianca met in 2018 and have been teaching together since, both locally in Switzerland and at international events. Don’t bother looking for them in Zurich on a weekend – they’ll probably be at yet another blues workshop to deepen their knowledge of blues!

In class, Roland (Switzerland) brings his best tunes and serious Swissness, complemented with a touch of chocolate and cheese jokes. Bianca (Italy), on the other hand, exudes Italian class and style. From her, you can expect many metaphors about pasta-cooking and coffee.

Together, they create a fun learning environment where you’ll have the chance to explore both the technical and cultural aspects of blues dancing, while expressing yourself in your own personal way.

When it comes to technique, they love to work on partner connection and dynamics that will make you go “wiiii”! They also eagerly explore and share their knowledge of idiom dances, to make you feel more comfortable dancing to all blues music styles. Creative exercises to further develop your dancing and anecdotes about the history and context of blues round out their classes for a full learning experience.

Fr 19:30-20:30 – Blues – The Blues Swiss Army Knife

In this taster class, we’re excited to introduce you to our “Swiss Army Knife” of Blues dance! Get ready to uncover our most versatile tools and tricks that will keep you dancing all night long—even if it’s your first time trying Blues. We’ll equip you with everything you need to confidently hit the dance floor and have a great time.

As MacGyver famously said, “There’s nothing you can’t do if you have a Swiss Army Knife, a roll of duct tape, and your wits.” Rest assured, though—no duct tape or knives will be involved in this class. Just lots of fun and dance!

Sa 11:00-13:00 – Blues – Fancy Moves in Ballroomin’ Blues

Deep dive into ballroomin’ blues! In this class, we’ll revisit key fundamentals to get you moving with clarity and flow around the floor, to then spice things up with fancy moves, dramatic turns, and just the right touch of Italian drama.
Expect an adaptable class full of flair, creativity, and moments that will make your partner gasp (in a good way).

Sa 14:30-16:30 – Lindy Int/Adv – Style Lab: Find Your Lindy Voice

Bouncy or smooth? Upright or athletic? Rhythmical or flowy? In this class, we’ll take inspiration from different dancers and explore style choices to help you discover what your Lindy Hop feels like. Through playful experimentation, you’ll start (or continue) shaping a style that feels natural and exciting to you.

It’s the beginning of a journey toward dancing that’s more intentional, more personal—and more fun.

Su 12:00-14:00 – Lindy Beg/Int – Don’t fake it, make it!

Step into the real art of leading and following in Lindy Hop! No more going through memorized patterns out of habit or guessing which move will be led next. In this class, we’ll unlock how to truly lead – and truly follow – based on body movement and connection.

Leaders get the freedom to spice up and reinvent their dancing, while followers respond effortlessly and bring their own voice to the party.

This class is about connection, creativity, and unlocking the thrill of truly shared movement.

Su 15:00-17:00 – Blues – Enjoy the simple stuff (late night blues)

What if the most fun in blues dancing could be achieved by doing… nothing? In this class, we‘ll bring our dancing down to its essentials and embrace the simplicity of pulse and subtle weight shifts in close embrace. Once our mind is free, we will use our mental zen to focus on musicality. Sometimes, less is more.
